I just came across D2RQ, a notation (plus implementation) for mapping relational databases to RDF, developed over the last four years by Chris Bizer, Richard Cyganiak and others at Freie Universität Berlin. There is a Web log, by the author, dedicated to the book. Yertle is fast enough to handle modest documents in many practical situations, but it isn't all that fast. Stéphane Corlosquet, DERI ( organizer); Florian I have to say that this sounds like an interesting theory, and hopefully it will turn out to have practical uses as well. In the context of RDF's semantic model, the TRUTH of a triple has a very limited, formal meaning. As a part of the tribute, the school conducted elocution competition on Ramanujan`s life story, along with mathematics quiz program to develop math skills and utilize math techniques in a practical way. I see RDF/XML as an "end format", it makes little sense to transform that (same goes for stuff like SVG I guess). VoID (from "Vocabulary of Interlinked Datasets") is an RDF based schema to describe linked datasets. The book Practical RDF is now available. So far 8 people have signed up. With VoID the discovery and usage of linked datasets can be performed both effectively and efficiently. Has anyone split-tested this to see if it really does produce better SEO? With RDF in the core of Drupal and RDFa output by default, it's dozens of thousands of websites which will all of a sudden start publishing their data as RDF. The Semantic Web has demonstrated considerable value for collaborative contributions to data. W3C announced today a RDF Validation Workshop – Practical Assurances for Quality RDF Data, 10-11 September 2013, in Cambridge, USA. For special (throwaway) cases with deterministic serialization though, it may be practical. The arguments presented are for both the engineer working with small organizations encumbered by reality, and the RDF purist encumbered by a vision. Since RDF resources are typically large and written in technical and long terms, the eye-parsing scenario is not practical, and certainly hampers the whole utility of SPARQL.
